Localisation
The Altus Pons is Sint Bernardusstraat, formerly Helstraat, in Maastricht, see Nève, The 13th-century aldermen's charters, 185, note 56.
Origin and coherence
The present charter was written by a scriptor who substantiated two original aldermen's charters of Maastricht for the commander of the Teutonic Order and the monastery of St. Gerlach in Houthem dated 15 May 1293 (see Van Synghel, Oorkonden Sint-Gerlach, 165-166, no. 38) and for the chapter of St. Servaas in Maastricht dated 25 February 1296 (see Collection of St. Servaas Chapter, no. 78). Consequently, this scriptor can be located in the circles of the Maastricht aldermen's council. For the charter dated 25 June 1294, to which the present charter is attached as a transfix, see Collection of St. Servaas Chapter, no. 74.
