Brief summary
Jan I, duke of Lorraine, Brabant and Limburg, orders his bailiff in Maastricht to grant the canons of the chapter of St. Servaas in Maastricht good letters of peace for the lawsuits and disputes their kinsmen have with others, provided that the canons do not get involved and do not interfere.

Iohannesa, Dei gratia dux Lotharingie, Brabantie et Lymburgie, .. sculteto suo Traiectensi qui nunc est et qui pro tempore fuerit ibidem, gratiam suam et omne bonum.
Cum nos dilectos nobis .. canonicos ecclesie Sancti Seruatii Traiectensis in nostra protectione susceperimus et conductu, vobis mandamus et districte precipimus quatenus dictos canonicos et eorum singulos, prout super hoc requisitus fueritis, de omnibus causis et controversiis quas consanguinei dictorum canonicorum contra quoscumque vel quicumque contra eos habuerint, treugas bonas sine contradictione faciatisb habere, dummodo dicti canonici dictas causas et controversias sibi non attraxerint et se non intromiserint de eisdem.

Aangezien Jan, hertog van Lotharingen, Brabant en Limburg, de kanunniken van Sint-Servaas te Maastricht in zijn bescherming en geleide heeft opgenomen, gelast hij zijn schout te Maastricht, zoals hem is verzocht, om ervoor te zorgen dat de kanunniken gezamenlijk en individueel zonder tegenspraak goede vredebrieven hebben voor alle rechtszaken en twisten die hun bloedverwanten tegen anderen en anderen tegen hen hebben, mits de kanunniken deze rechtszaken en twisten niet zelf hebben aangetrokken en er zich niet mee inlaten.
